A day in the life of - Peter Meyer
As Demarq Head of Delivery, my workday typically comprises a mix of planned and emergent tasks, with shifting focus and priority.
Planning is crucial, anchored around a simple OneNote template to capture my to-dos, priorities, and meeting agendas. By midweek, it will have proliferated into a controlled mass of meeting notes, actions, references and screen clippings.
If I had to describe the 'average' day, it would include some elements of -
· Client meetings: Service reviews and project updates
· Software vendor partner engagement
· Writing of proposals, service schedules and RFIs
· Account management and delivery lead
· Scheduling, resourcing and planning
· Team escalation and support
· Line management
· Project management
…Whilst doing my best to stay on top of emerging technologies and trends.
"Average" days can quickly change when a customer issue, incident or support related issue is bumped to the top of the list.
In this scenario, consistent and regular communication is the foundation - What's happened? What are we doing about it? When is the next update?
My days as a tech expert are behind me but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve. This week, I’m also preparing a customer software demo and writing SAS code to help a customer identify storage hot spots.
Variety is the spice of professional life. Being part of a highly skilled, capable, and dependable team ensures our ongoing success and reputation
